From the Artistic Director
Thank you to everyone who came to share our “Celebrating the Diversity of Australia Concert” in September. Thank you to performers – Sally Whitwell, Sarah Monk, Nikhil Chandran, Jacob Ridgeway – and to all the committee members and volunteers who make this series possible.
I hope to see you at our Philanthropists’ Choice concert Sunday week, thanking our generous donors by allowing them to choose the programme played! In our final Subscription Concert of the year, Spain and South America, we feature dazzling pianist Daniel Rojas and young, local performer violinist William Carraro.

Since Twilight Musical Dialogues “Australia”, Sally toured with the ACO in its “Grieg and Beyond” project: "The orchestration also allowed for some beautiful moments…Walker’s flute took the opening solo melody of the second movement, floating above the strings with a sweet, transparent sound" (Limelight) and performed Elena Kats-Chernin’s Concert for her in Zelman Symphony's Hamer Hall Babi Yar Commemoration concert: "Sally Walker eloquently fronted a flute concerto by Elena Kats-Chernin” (Sydney Morning Herald), "Sally Walker’s commanding solo presence was evident throughout, in partnership with conductor Shiell and the orchestra, and was greeted with an enthusiastic audience reception” (Classic Melbourne) "Flautist Sally Walker was very much at ease within the work’s three-movements, presenting a wide variety of moods and colours, revelling particularly in the rapturous soliloquy that is the cadenza” (Limelight). In preparation for this solemn concert, her article on Hope Through Music was published by Limelight.
